CAOIMHÍN Ó RAGHALLAIGH & DAN TRUEMAN, The Fate of Bones screen print

€30.00

Description:

Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh & Dan Trueman The Fate of Bones album launch

Gig Poster

Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin

3-Colour Screenprint

634 x 460mm

Edition: 60

3-colour screenprint poster edition for Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and Dan Trueman’s concert at Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin on 20th May 2022. The concert is an album launch for the duo’s latest album, “The Fate of Bones”. The poster is a 3-colour screen print (charcoal, pale turquoise green, ocher) hand-printed at Cork Printmakers on to munken polar 300gm paper stock, made in an edition of 60 signed and numbered prints.

Artwork is based upon the duo’s use of the hardanger d’amore fiddle (a 10-string instrument where 5 strings are played and 5 strings lie behind the fingerboard and resonate, creating its unique sound). The grid is created from repeated geometric shapes, while the display face is a geometric sans serif to echo these forms (Avant Garde). Colours were decided upon after seeing an online article on “the colour of bones” describing how certain bones decay over time with pigments of certain colours. Since both composers use baroque bows, the choice of additional typeface was similarly a baroque one: Livory. A final addition to the screen print edition is the use of a rubber stamp on bottom corners of the print, to denote both hardanger d’amore fiddles (abstractions of the bridge and fingerboard emblem).
